Manila Floods: 300,000 Homes Destroyed

You may have heard about the severe storms and flooding in the capital city of Manila, Philippines... hundreds of people have died and more than 300,000 homes have been destroyed. The city received 13 inches of rain in only six hours, causing rivers and dams to burst their banks. My cousin, David Sumrall, and his wife Beverly pastor the Cathedral of Praise in Manila, a 20,000 member strong congregation that my father – Dr. Lester Sumrall – founded more than 50 years ago. Beverly sent us an emergency email asking Feed The Hungry’s help as the church responds to this crisis. Her words gripped my heart:   Send Help Today

"Though flooding was already horrific all over the city, what had been knee high rose to neck high in a matter of seconds. Areas that were neck high rose to 15 feet. We had many church members who spent the night on the roof of their houses without food or drinkable water. By Sunday we fed 1,206 people at the church who had nothing to eat at all, and we prepared food (over a thousand more hot meals), fresh water, candles, and dry clothing to bring to the people whose homes were still under water."     Send Help Today

As you can imagine the need is enormous and the situation is desperate. Feed The Hungry is responding immediately by purchasing water, rice, and food items for the church to serve the suffering in Jesus’ name. And we need your help immediately so this critical outreach can continue.

Please... act now. Every gift will provide hope to the suffering. Families have been separated from one another, many lives have been lost, and thousands of homes - full of personal belongings and cherished memories - have been destroyed.       Send Help Today

We cannot delay. Two more cyclones are forecast to hit the Philippines in the days ahead. Our brothers and sisters in Christ, and suffering communities, need our help urgently. Thank you for having compassion on the hurting, Pete Sumrall

p.s. Emergency food items like rice, cooking oil, vegetables, and meats are needed most; and we’re buying them by the ton to secure the best pricing. Every donation of £25.50 will provide enough raw ingredients for the church to prepare daily meals for a family for whole month. Maybe you can provide one family’s meals for a month, maybe you can give £65.50 to feed three families for a month, or maybe you can give £220.00 for ten families... whatever you can do, any amount you can give today, will make an eternity of difference for the families who have lost all in the Philippines.      Send Help Today
