Feed The Hungry
Aiding Hurricane Victims in Haiti and Cuba
Local humanitarian agency Feed the Hungry has shipped more than 750,000
emergency relief rations to the nation of Haiti. The life-saving cargo
arrived in Port au Prince just prior to Hurricane Gustav battering the
north coast of the island.
Feed the Hungry is presently sending and additional 40 tons of emergency
food rations to aid Haiti, the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere,
in the wake of Hurricane Ike.
The South Bend based ministry will also provide 40 tons of food supplies
for shipment to the nation of Cuba which sustained a direct hit from
Hurricane Ike, a dangerous Category 4 storm that spent nearly two days
over the long, narrow island.

7/12/06 - Relief efforts in Philippines -
Typhoon Durian

On
Thursday 30th November a Typhoon with maximum sustained wind speeds
of over 190km/h struck the Philippines. As of the 5th of December over
500 people are confirmed dead, with more than 700 missing and around
1000 people injured.
FTH in partnership with the Philippine Cathedral of Praise is sending food packs and aid to the Bicol area working across denominational lines with AOG, Baptist, Foursquare and other churches in the area.
Latest
reports estimate 1.5 million people affected through 10 cities with
over 75,000 homes totally destroyed. People affected by the typhoon,
are stranded in their homes without electricity, food or water. Others
are holed up in schools, churches and other temporary shelters across
the Bicol region.
Fernando Gonzales, the governor of Albay has said, "Every corner of this province has been hit. It is a total devastation. Never before in history have we seen water like this. Almost every residential area was flooded."
Rescue efforts have been hampered by the bad roads and the soft ground, forcing workers to wade into the muck to retrieve bodies. We expect to receive more first-hand reports from our team as our caravan of hope reaches the devastated area over the next coming days.

27/7/06 - Dominican Republic
news update from Stefan Radelich-
Hi Everyone!
Thanks for your prayers while we were in the Dominican Republic…
the area of Barahona is very underdeveloped and neglected. Our three
containers have been held up in customs and are finally leaving the
port today PTL!! The cause of the hold up was two-fold: (1) new personnel
installed after the May elections, and (2) changes in the import/customs
laws… both of these combined spell D-E-L-A-Y-S. Thankfully our
man there, Fidel, stayed on the job 24/7 and it only took an extra three
weeks to get the containers released.
The food will be stored at the military base in Barahona, we met with
the Lieutenant who is a Christian. Volunteers will break the containers
down into 6,000 family packs which will be distributed through local
churches in 17 battes (shanty towns for Haitian immigrants). These battes
are very, very poor; attached is a photo of the pastor’s house
in Bombita… six adults and six children live in this home! In
Bombita there are ten single-toilet latrines for 375 FAMILIES…
i.e. 2,000 or so people.
We bought some rice and beans in country so we could at least do one
distribution while there. The batte’s name was Alta Grassi…
about 150 or so families live there. Pastor Jacque and his wife from
the Pentecostal Assembly there gave out coupons to the families they
knew were in need. One mother of nine (pictured) said she had absolutely
NO food in the house at all, and only 11 pesos (33 cents USD) to her
name. She woke up that morning and cried to the Lord, “How will
my children eat today!” Then the pastor’s wife came by with
a coupon for a food pack… her face was beaming all day, and so
were her kids!
We went to her house and inside on the wall in big letters were the
words “Si Dios Me Quire, Yo Tengo Todo”… If God Loves
Me, I Have Everything.
The evening crusades were well attended considering the venue and youth
focus (maybe 8-10,000 per night), lot’s of salvations and many
notable healings. The team did a lot of evangelism around the city during
the days as well with really good fruit, I was surprised by how many
adults and teens made a decision to follow the Lord.
More reports to come once the full distribution gets underway.
